China Select Committee chair: “I'm not allowed to comment” on UFO whistleblower
While Gallagher says whistleblower David Grusch’s claims “should be taken seriously,” he says a key question remains unanswered.
Former Marine intelligence officer and current congressman Mike Gallagher is over using “UAPs” or its predecessor, “UFOs.”
“Aliens. Just call them aliens, okay?” Gallagher told Ask a Pol this afternoon as he walked across the Capitol grounds.
The Wisconsin Republican says he’s looked into the claims made by whistleblower David Grusch but can’t discuss them publicly.
“I'm not allowed to comment on them,” Gallagher, who chairs the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, said. “But I think they should be taken seriously. Obviously, Grusch’s background is legit: military, Intel., high level security clearance, so you can't just dismiss him.”
Gallagher says he’s still got one unanswered question, though.
“The question is whether he had firsthand, sort of, access to some of this stuff,” Gallagher continued. “Because you can't dismiss him, you're left with two possibilities: One, he’s telling the truth. Two, he’s misinformed.”
As Gallagher walked past the “Members Only” sign on the steps leading up to the House chamber, he added, “I think they need to be taken seriously.”
