Who?
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) — Chair, US Senate Intelligence Committee
LISTEN: Laslo & Warner
Ask a Pol asks:
We saw the Joint Chiefs of Staff letter from last May on UAPs. How big of a concern are they? Even [Sen. Tim] Kaine (D-VA) was asking about it last week with the one flying over Langley…
Warner’s response:
“The idea of UAPs, drones, whatever, around military bases is extremely concerning, but when you look at the overall disclosure so far by the government, we’ve … as much as you want, there doesn’t seem to have been as much there there yet,” Warner exclusively tells Ask a Pol.
FOLLOW-UP FIRE:
If this is foreign actors, knowing that there’s one, seems like it's too much for my tax dollars.
Check…
“Fair. Fair,” Warner concedes to Ask a Pol. “Fair enough.”
Mate?
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-NY) saying she wants to fund new sensors, do they not even have the right sensors to see these?
Warner say what?
“Let me try to get you an answer on that,” Warner tells Ask a Pol.

BACKGROUND:
Earlier this month, Matt Laslo asked Warner about UAPs, and the Senate Intel chair dismissively laughed in Ask a Pol subscriber’s faces.
We still don’t know what was funny to the senator.
ICYMI — Warner laughs; Gillibrand’s “very concerned”
“I’m very concerned about UAPs...constantly around our military sites," Gillibrand — a member of both the Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees — exclusively told Ask a Pol at the start of this month.
Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), slightly edited for clarity.
TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Mark Warner
SCENE: Warner’s just finished fielding professionally persistent questions from one of Matt Laslo’s fellow tech reporters on whether he’s open to holding a joint hearing with the Senate Commerce Committee on TikTok. Warner seems to have kept the door open…
While quasi-waiting in the wings, Laslo’s laughing as Warner evades the TikTok question, again.
Mark Warner: “You know, I got a feeling we’re gonna be seeing each other throughout the next couple of days.”
Tech Reporter: “Okay. I’ll circle back.”
MW: “I don’t have anything yet.”
Tech Reporter: “Okay.”
Matt Laslo: “How annoying is the press corps?”
Warner waves for the tech reporter to stay.
MW: “Hey listen, don’t you realize it’s semi-annoying when they want to talk to you, but then when they don't want to talk to you, it’s like at once, you’re like, ‘Oh shit….’”
ML: “You feel lonely.”
MW: “I feel lonely!”
They all laugh.
ML: “I was shown the Joint Chiefs of Staff letter from last May on UAPs. How big of a concern are they? I mean, even Kaine was asking about it last week with the one flying over Langley.”
ML: “Like, are you…”
MW: “The idea of UAPs, drones, whatever, around military bases is extremely concerning. But when you look at the overall disclosure so far by the government.”
ML: “Yeah?”
MW: “We’ve… As much as you want, there doesn’t seem to have been as much there there yet, in terms of — that doesn’t mean…”
ML: “If this is foreign actors, knowing that there’s one, seems like it's too much for my tax dollars.”
MW: “Fair. Fair. Fair enough.”
ML: “But, I mean, how much — I mean, because Gillibrand’s saying she wants to fund new sensors, do they not even have the right sensors to see these?”
MW: “Let me try to get you an answer on that.”
ML: “Yeah?”
MW: “Alright.”
ML: “Preciate ya.”
