Who?
Rep. Rep. Nancy Mace* (R-SC) — Chairwoman of Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on CyberSecurity, IT and Government Innovation
*THANK YOU to all who voted in our AskaPOLL. Knowing her, we imagine Chairwoman Mace thanks you too…
ICYMI — Mace is chairing Nov. 13th UFO hearing in the House
LISTEN: Laslo & Mace
Ask a Pol asks:
Any public update on who the witnesses are going to be at the public Nov. 13th UAP hearing you’re chairing?
Key Mace:
“I wanted to have a military vet. I think it's important to have more than just academics. I need people who’ve maybe seen some sh*t and can tell us some stuff,” Rep. Nancy Mace exclusively tells Ask a Pol. “I want people who've actually seen and heard and read. Like, it's just important. So, I moved the dates back…”
NEWS: Mace met w/ Congressional UAP Caucus Co-chairs
“I met with [Rep. Tim] Burchett and with Luna to get them on why they wanted this guy — I think he’s an admiral that does USOs [Underwater Submerged Objects] stuff — more than happy [to have him testify],” Mace tells us. “But the witnesses will be different, and they'll bring different information to the table.”
*Easter come early: ”It's actually a guy that will talk about USOs, because we haven't talked about USOs,” Mace exclusively hints to the Ask a Pol UAP family (READ: Full Mace interview transcript below).
Caught our ear:
“We're working through who the other witnesses are going to be,” Mace tells Ask a Pol. “We’ll talk about that later.”
So you guys are still working through it? So, we don't have a direction of the hearing?
“It will be a variety,” Mace says. “It will be a grab bag.”
Below find a rough transcript of Ask a Pol’s exclusive interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), slightly edited for clarity.

TRANSCRIPT: Rep. Nancy Mace*
*Ahead of lawmakers fleeing Washington for their election year monthlong October ‘recess,’ the Capitol was abuzz with people and movement this week. While we boosted most of the audio for you, some parts are still a tad unclear on first listen so we’re leaving more of this transcript free than usual. Thanks for understanding.
SCENE: Ahead of a rainy Tuesday House vote series, Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo spends more than an hour in the underground Cannon Tunnel, which connects House Office Buildings to the US Capitol.
Laslo spots upcoming UAP hearing chair Nancy Mace traversing the soggy groups of tourists crowding the usually empty tunnel at a fast clip, in heels, of course. Ask a Pol never looks back, even as our mic ruffles tourists and lobbyists’ soggy jackets. Apologies, including for the brief moments of silence where Mace asked us to go off mic...
Matt Laslo: “Look at this young lady.”
Nancy Mace: “Hey, how are you?”
ML: “Miserable — I cover Congress.”
Laslo laughs; Mace smiles.
NM: “Yeah. But you have fun doing it.”
ML: “Oh, I do. 18 years — having a blast.”
ML: “What, if any, clue of who the witnesses might be?”
NM: “Oh, I know we're working through a list right now. We won't put that out for a little bit of time. But I had us push back…”
Someone calls out “Nancy Mace” so Mace half-turns to acknowledge, as she slows down so they can catch up.
NM: “Yeah.”
NM: “I had us push back that hearing, because I wanted a particular witness who's a veteran.”
ML: “Push back to Nov. 13th?”
NM: “Yeah, yeah, yes. So we can get that witness…”
ML: “You're still waiting…?”
Mace is stopped by one of her Democratic colleagues who introduces her to a large group of liberal Black health care advocates. They proceed to talk for close to a minute and a half — which we edited out of the audio cause we gave them space so it inaudible — before they exchange contact info and part ways.
NM: “Nice to meet you. Thank you!”
Mace is shaking hands as she turns back to Laslo.
“Bye,” they say.
ML: “Love that bipartisanship.”
Prof. Laslo momentarily takes the mic…

NM: “Yeah, I’ve been doing that stuff for a long time, and…”
ML: “Nice.”
NM: “…no one understands me. Why can’t anyone understand me?”
Laslo laughs.
ML: “Oh, I do…”
NM: “Right?”
ML: “Yeah?”
NM: “Even when I — my bill last week that Democrats laughed at me about…(inaudible).”
ML: “Yeah?”
NM: “51 voted for it — that was a lot.”
ML: “Yes.
NM: “So…”
ICYMI — mark your calendar
Elevator bell rings.
ML: “On this topic, separately.”
NM: “I’m one of the most bipartisan members of the House, quite frankly.”
Elevator bell rings.
NM: “So…”
Mace and Laslo enter elevator.
NM: “Anyways, so I pushed the hearing back, because I wanted…”
ML: “Well — so [Rep. Anna Paulina] Luna’s been telling me…”
NM: “…I wanted to get this guy, I wanted to get this individual and make dates for him.”
ML: “So Luna’s been telling me past couple months that she wanted it focused on USOs [Underwater Submerged Objects]. Is this that on — you’re kind of in control now?”
NM: “I mean, yeah. Well, on background?”
ML: “Yeah.”
Momentarily off mic…
NM: “But everyone gets to have… so I met with [Rep. Tim] Burchett and with Luna to get them on why they wanted this guy — I think he’s an admiral that does USO stuff —more than happy [to have him testify]. But the witnesses will be different, and they'll bring different information to the table.”
ML: “So, the one that you're trying to get is different from the one that they want to bring in?”
NM: “It's actually a guy that will talk about USOs, because we haven't talked about USOs.”
