Who?
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) — candidate to replace Mitch McConnell as Senate GOP Leader
Ask a Pol asks:
“Any update on last year’s conversations on declassification?”
Key Cornyn:
“That’s pretty monumental. We haven’t had classification reform in, I don’t know, quarter century or more,” Cornyn told Ask a Pol. “It’s gonna take a little while to be implemented. But we’ve done something pretty important, and I’m proud of that work. But there’s still more we can do.”

TRANSCRIPT: Sen. John Cornyn
SCENE: Cornyn was walking through the basement of the Capitol when Matt Laslo sees him.
Matt Laslo: “How you doin?”
John Cornyn: “Good morning.”
ML: “I wanted to ask you — ummm; what is that? — any update on last year’s conversations on declassification?”
JC: “Yeah, we passed a classification reform bill as a part of the NDAA.”
ML: “But that’s — that’s it?”
JC: “What do you mean ‘that was it’?”
ML: “You think that goes far enough?”
JC: “That’s pretty monumental. We haven’t had classification reform in, I don’t know, quarter century or more.”
ML: “But have you seen that, like, have you caught up with the agencies? Like, how is that playing out?”
JC: “It’s gonna take a little while to be implemented. But we’ve done something pretty important, and I’m proud of that work. But there’s still more we can do.”
