*I have a similar relationship with MTG! First time I met her I won her over for life.
Mic and notepad at my side: “Pleasure meeting you ma’am. You would have been my Congresswoman if this was 2 decades ago, back when I was studying to be a pastor and giving sermons in your district!” 🤯
I say my job is to get lawmakers to f*** up and tell me what they’re actually thinking. Been to every freshmen orientation since ‘06 cause I wanna be one of the first faces they associate with the Capitol. So I gladly help show them say, where the ladies room is. Or sat on a bench for 10 mins with Rep Ayanna Pressley as she changed from her heels (rookie mistake in Capitol: Flats on marvel!) into gym shoes. We traded knee injury stories -- like when I tore my MCL chasing former VP Pence through the Capital on a rainy day, so to this day we check up on each others joints! 😂
I also read their bios when they first arrive in DC, and look for any little bit of connection we have -- even if 2 or 3 steps removed -- and I lead with that to try and win them over.
Do you have a friendly and familiar relationship with Sen. Booker? “What do you want from me” is either very funny or very dickish, would love to know. Thanks!
I covered him for WHYY in Philly for years. He got too comfortable with me and ate a plain baked potato in front of me in his office once. “You’re gonna eat a raw potato?” “It’s not raw! I heated it in the microwave. And there’s some salt on it!”
That’s weird, right? 😂
Though we first met as nominees for Shorty Awards (Twitter awards) back in like ‘09 or ‘10--he doesn’t drink and it was sponsored by Makers Mark: Booker won; but me and other losers drank lots of free whiskey, so much that by the end I was calling then-Newark Mayor Cory Booker “Governor!” Haha
But he’s got a great sense of humor and genuine spirit, so he’s always joking with Senate pages and his fellow senators. Like, even Republicans like him on the Hill.
Ontological Shock & Awe ..but I hope the “obsessed’ staffers get up to speed as much on the shenanigans behind MK Ultra, COINTELPRO and Iran-Contra as they do ‘Arrival’...
My only issue with that article is that it implies this is more a far right issue. Introducing the topic to dems thru that is gonna prejudice them against the claims.
My WIRED piece? Learned a ton about the dynamics of the debate since then, but this Congress wrestles with conspiracies regularly--which could impact UAPs. Though think most 👀 are on the Senate probe.

Right?
Also, that Booker post feels ages ago... haha

Oh yeah! And great ear!

Corey Booker represents the interests of Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Collins Aerospace, Lockheed Martin and Boeing.

Gillibrand, too?
