TRANSCRIPT: Sen. Brian Schatz (6-7-2023)

Matt Laslo: “Seen this UAP whistleblower?”

Brian Schatz: “The what?”

ML: “The UFO whistleblower.”

BS: “Oh yeah. I haven't. I mean, I read the article, but I just don’t — I’d like to confirm the veracity of at least some of it.”

ML: “But it just — the allegations themselves are a little breathtaking?”

BS: “Yes. Which is why I don't want to comment on it until I kind of…”

ML: “Oh, I know. It's out there.”

BS: “It could be a game changer or it could be a crank. I just don't know.”

ML: “But the allegations, specifically about lying to Congress. You guys have to investigate this.”

BS: “I have no doubt that we will get to the bottom of it. I just don't know whether anything in that article is credible or not. I'm not saying it isn't. I don’t know.”

ML: “Exactly. Wise man. Thank you, sir.”

Part of this interview I first published in WIRED.
