Who?
Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) — Finance & Banking Committees
LISTEN: Laslo & Daines
Ask a Pol asks:
Never asked you about crypto before — where do you come down at?
Key Daines:
“Big fan — financial freedom,” Sen. Steve Daines exclusively tells Ask a Pol. “I’m supportive. The crypto industry is asking for guardrails. They want to see the appropriate kind of regulation. They just don’t want to have government be the dictators.”
Caught our ear:
“I think that crypto is the future for financial freedom,” Daines tells us.

Ask a Pol — asking your lawmakers your questions at your US Capitol
Laslo chuckles.
ML: “Yeah?”
SD: “Yeah. Financial freedom.”
ML: “Cause I know some of your — well, cause some of your colleagues have big fears about it hitting the illicit market. Where do you want to see that go?”
SD: “So, I’m supportive. You know, the crypto industry is asking for guardrails. They want to see the appropriate kind of regulation. They just don’t want to have government be the dictators. They want to have appropriate guardrails, but I think that crypto is the future for financial freedom.”
ML: “Yeah?”
Daines and his aide are stepping on an elevator in the basement of the Capitol.
Daines aide: “Thank you.”
ML: “Preciate ya.”
SD: “You bet.”
